Keynote: Value-Based Purchasing and the Future of Home Health Care
Teresa Lee, Executive Director
Alliance for Home Health Quality & Innovation
The health care system is quickly evolving towards payment tied to value and alternative models of health care delivery. Home health agencies in Florida will be among the first in the country to be subject to home health value based purchasing. The shift towards alternative models of care delivery, such as bundled payments and accountable care organizations, will also require home health agencies to understand and clearly communicate their role and relevance in caring for older Americans in the future of the health care system. This keynote will provide an overview of the Medicare program's home health value based purchasing model that will begin on January 1, 2016 and key considerations for success. The keynote will also provide perspective and data analysis that can be useful as home health agencies pursue partnerships with hospitals, physicians and payers in alternative models of care.

Understanding the psychology and ensuing behavior that buyers and referrers of aging care services go through when they are searching for and selecting home care agencies to work with is a vital component of the strategy needed to market those services. General Session: Crucial Financial Strategies for Home Care Agencies
Matthew D. Capell, CEO
Financial Health Services SeniorCare Payment Solutions
Private duty billing and accounts receivable management is NOT the same as billing in a certified agency. And if you think “private duty is easy because it is all cash pay” – think again! Private duty care represents an enormous opportunity as the “front-end” of the senior care continuum and a logical complement to a certified agency. But none of that matters if the business is not financially viable. By the end of this session, you will understand the private duty revenue opportunity, its unique payer mix, key financial metrics and best practices to run a successful private duty home care business, whether using the agency or registry model.
