COMPENSATION

As a nonprofit organization, HCAF is unable to pay honorarium, travel, separate meal, lodging or per diem costs to speakers.  However, HCAF is pleased to offer presenters a FREE conference registration that includes a number of food and beverage breaks and daytime meals.  Substitutions for free registrations are not permitted and unfortunately, we cannot afford to include pre-conference programs and events in this offer.  Pre-conference programs and events include any sessions or meals held before Tuesday morning, other than the Palmetto sessions.  Speakers are responsible for submitting a completed conference registration to HCAF so that we are aware that you will be taking advantage of this opportunity and include you in our catering, seating and handout counts.  Given the limited amount of time per session, we respectfully request that the number of presenters per session be limited to no more than two speakers.

 

SUGGESTED TOPICS

Listed below are core areas that are of great interest to conference attendees.  If you have developed an innovative program, researched an issue, or initiated a new policy or procedure, your topic may be applicable.  Proposals that address home health topics within these core areas will be considered along with other timely issues:

PROPOSAL REVIEW PROCESS

Each proposal is reviewed and evaluated by HCAF using the following guidelines:

  • Relevance to home care

  • Timely or innovative topic

  • Overall quality and well-defined focus

  • Practical application of materials

  • Clearly identified objectives

  • Teaching/speaking experience of presenter

  • Freedom from commercial bias

 
AUDIENCE

We are hoping/expecting approximately 650 attendees at this year’s Winter Conference.  There will be up to five educational sessions running concurrently and individual session attendance will vary.  You can expect the audience to represent a wide array of organizational sizes and structures, such as large, vertically integrated systems, hospital-based home care agencies, to chain or freestanding organizations.  These organizations are for-profit and not-for-profit, urban and rural, and are reimbursed by a variety of sources, including: Medicare; Medicaid; Private Insurance, and Private Pay.  Attendees typically have degrees in nursing, therapy, business, health services administration or other related areas.

INVITATION TO SUBMIT PROPOSAL TO PRESENT

HCAF is pleased to announce a Call for Presentations, and invite proposals, for our Winter Gathering 2016!  Help spread the word by sharing this page with anyone you think may be interested in presenting a program at our conference! HCAF is the premier state association serving state Licensed (Private Funded) and Medicare (Certified) Home Health Agencies and Nurse Registries. Affiliate members include hospices, homemaker/companion and sitter services, medical equipment supply vendors, computer hardware and software companies, consultants, insurance providers, accountants, and data collection and benchmarking companies.

 

Our Winter Gathering kicks off the new year by bringing home health professionals from across the Sunshine State together. The Conference is designed to offer administrators, supervisors, financial managers and clinicians an opportunity to learn more about new developments in home health care, effective management strategy, cutting costs, innovative programs, and new regulatory changes.

 

HCAF’s Education Task Force is seeking proposals for conference concurrent sessions that will be held on January 11-13.  Educational content from noon on Januay 11 until noon on January 12 will focus on topics relevant to Medicare & Medicaid Certified Agencies.  Educational content from noon on January 12 until noon on January 13 will focus on topics relevant to Private Duty Agencies. 

 

We hope to have most of the concurrent sessions be either 50 or 80 minutes in length. Special Note: When designing your presentation, please allow time for introductions and questions and answers.
